"I took the one less traveled by,
"I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
I suppose everyone has a sense that their life is unusual compared to others.
Perhaps not unusual, as with nearly 7 billion people on this world, we're all bound to share similar experiences with quite a few others, but definitely unique in the composition of experiences one amasses in a lifetime.
My life's road seemed pretty "normal" for the first 30-or-so years. Grew up in middle-class suburbia, graduated high school and college, got married, had two kids, decent office job, the works. Some would say boring, and even the resulting divorce was pretty normal per American standards.
But then the roads before me diverged and needing to choose, I simply started down one -- not realizing it was the road less traveled --unsuspecting of what would lie ahead.
The one constant: I am a writer. Professionally, I have been for more than 20 years. Before that, high school newspaper writer and editor, and even graded papers throughout the younger years included teachers' expectations that I would someday be the next great American novelest. In today's world, if you claim to be a writer, I guess you need a blog. So, here I am.
I've already written many of these posts on my mind's tablet, driving home from work, or in the shower, or all those other places where computer technology still isn't feasible or appropriate, but from where I ponder the the road I chose, realizing now that it was the one less traveled. I hope to share some of the insights I've gained from the unique collection of experiences gathered along that road, perhaps to educate, perhaps to inspire, maybe to amuse.
Because, for me, the road less traveled has made all the difference.
